A county town of Northamptonshire situated in the East Midlands of England. It is one of the biggest towns in the UK with a population of 212,100 as stated by the 2011 census. It lies around the River Nene, about 50 miles (80 km) south-east of Birmingham, and 67 miles (108 km) north-west of London.
Archaeological evidence shows signs of settlement in the area during the Anglo-Saxon, the Bronze Age as well the Roman periods. It's a major centre of shoemaking as well as other leather industries such as Wildsmith Shoes, Edward Green Shoes, and much more. Northampton boasts of a Central Library as well as seven other public libraries located around the town. It is also a home to the University of Northampton.
