Cambridge is a university city and it is the county town of Cambridgeshire, England, a home to the River Cam, situated about 50 miles (80 km) north of London and as at the 2011 Census, its population stands at 123,867, which includes 24,488 students. It is the home of the University of Cambridge which was founded in 1209 and stands as one of the top five universities in the world.
The university boast of the King's College Chapel, the Cambridge University Library and the Cavendish Laboratory. Archaeological evidence shows signs of settlement in the area during the Roman Britain as well the Bronze Age. Cambridge is at the centre of the high-technology Silicon Fen and features industries such as bioscience and software as well as many start-up companies emanating out of the university.
